PLAN B BOUTIQUE MAKES ITS MARK ON L.A.’S VENTURA BLVD.
Hip Boutique Highlighting Eclectic, Independent Designers Injects Some Flavor on L.A.’s Ventura Boulevard
Plan B Boutique introduces Ventura Blvd. to lines and styles influenced by the fashions found in bohemian communities such as Silverlake,
the Lower Eastside, and Brooklyn. Noticing lack of diversity in retail stores around their area, the founders of Plan B Boutique took it upon
themselves to inject some flavor in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley and introduced their own personal, eclectic style to the growing fashion
scene on Ventura Blvd.
Founded by Karina Calderon, Melissa Melendres, and Kristina Delmendo, three young women, each with their own sense of fashion and style,
all in different career fields but with years of friendship under their belt, shared the same desire of opening a clothing store.
The three partners wanted to create a foolproof shopping destination for women who feel like their closet has gotten stale as they
keep trying on outfit after outfit.
“Any woman can relate to this dilemma,” says co-owner Karina Calderon. “It's for those occasions when the outfit you detailed in your head,
but once actually worn ends up looking like a fashion disaster. Leaving you to frantically put something together.
That’s where we come in as your plan b.”
Plan B Boutique’s racks are filled with pieces that mix easily with any existing wardrobe. Adding just the right amount of oomph and effortless style.
This easy breezy philosophy is done by carrying emerging lines such as Vanessa Barrantes- whose been dubbed "the Chloe of Lower East Side,"
providing well constructed classic feminine dresses with a touch of playfulness. You can also find Prospect 44, an LA based designer creating
styles with a sexy offbeat flare. Mixing a piece from the line, Rojas will definitely add an edge or sassy-ness to any casual outfit.
Plan B Boutique boasts to be the very first to order newcomer, Mk2k, a collection of sweaters that are anything but boring.
And for those who have had enough of paying ridiculous amounts for a plain white t-shirt, there's LA Made, affordable basics great for layering.
Other lines you can find are Ghita, Harlow, Figmint, Anzevino & Florence, Jenny Jen, Dace, and Scanty Pajamas.
Shelves are also stocked with delicate jewelry by Hollie Ten, city-chic handbags by Rebecca Minkoff, and comfy affordable shoes by Dru.
If you’re in need of a gift item, there are the already beautifully wrapped candles by Kobo packed with matches.
Quirky greeting cards and other gift items are displayed throughout the store.
The decor is purposefully simple and understated, allowing the merchandise to take center stage. The walls are painted with a
delicious shade of chocolate brown accented with a pop of cheerie pink paint.
